AsianOil: Bill introduced to ban LNG exports to four countries, China included

Democratic Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Jeff Merkley of Oregon have introduced the Protecting American Households From Rising Energy Costs Act.

Filed in late February, the bill is aimed solely at banning the export of crude oil and LNG to China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

Whilst the concept of a ban to North Korea, Russia and Iran will have little realistic effect on LNG movements around the globe, the possibility of an LNG ban on shipments to China could be far reaching.

Speaking after the introduction of the bill in late February, Senator Brown said: "we should not allow American liquid natural gas to fuel China’s state-sponsored industries.”
