AsianOil: CNOOC reports strong test-flow result in Bohai Bay
China's state-owned offshore oil and gas operator CNOOC announced on July 15 a strong result at a discovery well in the Bohai Bay, with the borehole test-flowing at the daily rate of 1,323 barrels of oil and 1mn cubic metres of gas.
The LK7-1-1 was drilled and finished to a 4,400-metre depth, striking 76 metres of oil and gas pay, the company said.
“The successful well demonstrates the broad exploration prospect in Mesozoic volcanic rocks in Bohai Bay,” CNOOC deputy CEO Xu Changgui said in a statement. “It also testifies the progress in the company's understanding and technological capabilities in tapping resources in medium-to-deep plays.”
