AsianOil: Pakistan says gas pipe project with Iran still under discussion

The long-planned, long-delayed natural gas pipeline connecting Iran and Pakistan is still under discussion and has not been indefinitely shelved, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik said on August 9, two days after media reports said that Islamabad had decided to shelve the project due to ongoing US sanctions against Iran.

Should Pakistan go ahead with constructing its section of the pipeline, the country could become liable to US sanctions that Washington has put in place over the last decade against Tehran for several reasons.
