Five Western insurers provided coverage for tankers shipping Russian oil to Asia this year, even though others in the sector have withdrawn support for such vessels because of concerns they will violate the G7 price cap by doing so, Reuters reported on August 8.
Citing data from traders and shippers, the news agency said that the five insurers – American Club, Luxembourg-headquartered West of England, Norway's Gard, New Zealand’s Maritime Mutual and the London P&I Club – insured 10 tankers that transported crude from Russia to Asia this year.
