ENERGO: CEZ announced a €42mn tender for generators at Temelin NPP

Czech majority state-owned energy utility CEZ announced the opening of CZK1bn (€42.3mn) public procurement to secure deliveries of two generations for the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant, the Temelin NPP spokesperson Marek Svitak stated in a press release.

CEZ plans to change the generators at the Temelin NPP between 2028 and 2030, and the companies can enter the tender until June 9. CEZ is looking for a delivery of two complete generators, including the delivery of one spare rotor, accessories, installment and servicing.

“As part of the public procurement, we will evaluate the qualification of bidders and then ask them to submit offers,” stated the company. “We would like to have [a bidder] selected next year in the spring,” he added.

CEZ also noted that the modernisation of generators is one of the key projects securing the long-term operations at the Temelin NPP.  “We want to run the plant for at least 60 years,” commented the Temelin NPP director Jan Kruml, adding that CEZ requires 40 years as the minimal longevity of the generators.
