ENERGO: Energoatom claims Russia is attempting to connect Zaporizhzhia NPP to occupied territories

Energoatom, Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear operator, warned that Russian troops will soon try to connect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) to the occupied territories, Ukraine Business News reported on November 4.

The ZNPP went into full blackout mode after Russian shelling on November 2 damaged the last two high-voltage communication lines, forcing the plant to run on 20 diesel engines that have enough fuel for 15 days, the Kyiv Independent reported. The company stated that the shelling was “another attempt” to connect the NPP to the Russian energy grid.

“In the near term, they will try to repair and connect the ZNPP transmission lines in the direction of the temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbas,” the company wrote on Telegram.
