ENERGO: Officials discuss Black Sea submarine cable project in Tbilisi

Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania and Hungary recently held a meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia to discuss the implementation of the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project, a transmission route that will transport green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe.

During the meeting, Georgian officials presented the initial results of the project's feasibility study and discussed its next stages with their counterparts.

The project, which was signed in December, will allow countries in the South Caucasus and Romania to benefit from expanded export opportunities and trade electricity at hourly market prices. The cable, which will pass under the Black Sea, will be the longest ever built, presenting significant technical challenges.

The next meeting between the four countries is scheduled to take place in Bucharest, Romania.
