Preparation works for Czechia’s new nuclear unit have already cost about CZK3.5bn (€141mn).
Tomas Pleskac, board member and the head of the new energy division at the majority state-owned energy utility CEZ stated during the board meeting on June 24 that most of the costs had arisen from the operations of the CEZ daughter company Dukovany II, its team of experts and land purchases.
Since 2022 CEZ has been running a state-backed tender intended to enhance the Dukovany nuclear power plant (NPP). However, the Czech government said it would consider constructing up to 3-4 nuclear units based on the offers from French EDH and South Korean KHNP.
