Energo: Ukraine to boost electricity exports to EU as ENTSO-E raises export capacity

Ukraine is set to bolster its electricity exports to the EU following a decision by the European network of electricity transmission system operators, ENTSO-E, to increase the country's maximum permissible capacity for electricity export by 150 MW, effective from March 1, bringing the total to 550 MW.

The move by ENTSO-E signals a significant milestone in Ukraine's efforts to enhance its energy infrastructure and expand its presence in the European electricity market. The decision comes as a testament to the ongoing work to strengthen the Ukrainian energy system, with increased electricity exports serving as a key indicator of the country's economic recovery.

Ukraine's journey towards integrating with Europe's electricity grid dates back to 2005 when it initiated the process of joining the continental network. However, it was not until recently that the country achieved a major breakthrough by successfully unhooking itself from the Russian electricity grid just before the onset of the war with Russia.
