Energo: Ukrainian PM says energy situation ‘extremely difficult,’ revises lost capacity estimate to 9 GW
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal has described the country's energy situation as "extremely difficult.” In a statement on his Telegram channel, Shmyhal noted that over 9 GW of generating capacity has been lost, up from an earlier estimate of 8 GW.
"The situation is extremely difficult. More than 9 GW of generating capacity has been lost," Shmyhal stated, adding that Ukrenergo, the national electric grid operator, has been forced to implement power cuts to conserve energy.
To address the crisis, Shmyhal outlined a series of measures being taken to stabilise the energy situation. These include decentralising the energy system, seeking international support and cooperation, promoting energy efficiency and encouraging responsible energy consumption.
