France’s Veolia to help Uzbek capital modernise heat supply system

France’s Veolia Central & Eastern Europe is set to allocate €20mn in foreign direct investment towards the modernisation of the heat supply system in the Uzbek capital.

A corresponding 30-year agreement has been signed by the Tashkent city administration and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Veolia was chosen to implement the project on public-private partnership terms.

The project also provides for the construction of 181 centralised and local heating systems, the modernisation of boilers, the construction of 575.6 kilometres of heating networks and the reconstruction of 841.1 km of heating networks.
