Russia’s Novatek has reportedly downsized the capacity of its planned liquefaction terminal in Murmansk amid sanctions pressure, after already scaling back the size of its Arctic LNG-2 project.
International sanctions, particularly those imposed by Washington, have brought the expansion of Russia’s LNG sector to a standstill, with Arctic LNG-2, the first train of which was completed in December, still incapable of exports because of a lack of specialised carriers capable of traversing Russia’s Arctic Northern Sea Route and difficulties finding buyers.
