FSUOGM: Russian fuel oil exports on track for year high this month
Russia's fuel oil exports in August are on track to reach their highest level of the year, according to data from Kpler for the first 23 days of the month, the Moscow-based Kommersant newspaper reported on August 26.
The analytics firm reports that Russia exported approximately 1.1mn barrels per day of fuel oil during this period, compared with about 900,000 bpd in July. Roughly half of August's exports came from the Baltic port of Ust-Luga.
China emerged as the largest importer of Russian fuel oil, accounting for around 20% of August shipments, or approximately 220,000 bpd. In July, China and Saudi Arabia each imported around 190,000 bpd, significantly increasing their purchases compared to previous months. India, the second-largest importer, boosted its August fuel oil imports by 50% year on year to over 150,000 bpd. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's imports remained steady at 110,000 bpd.
