Tesla officially enters Moroccan market, showcases two best-selling models in Casablanca
US electric vehicle maker Tesla announced its official entry into the Moroccan market, with plans to hold a launch event in AnfaPlace Mall in Casablanca on February 6, Asharq Business reported on January 30.
In a statement released on January 30, Tesla said the event will showcase two of its best-selling models, the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y, alongside home charging solutions.
Tesla has stepped up recruitment efforts in recent months as part of its market entry strategy and has already installed several charging points at selected hotels in major Moroccan cities, as it finalises preparations for broader infrastructure rollout.
The move follows Tesla’s regional expansion across the Middle East, after the company opened its first showroom in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2025, adding to its presence in the UAE and Qatar.
Tesla’s entry comes amid a strong rebound in Morocco’s car market. New vehicle sales surged 33.4% year-on-year (y/y) in 2025 to a record 235,372 units, according to data from the Association of Automobile Importers in Morocco.
Electric and hybrid vehicles now account for 12.5% of total sales, up from 7% a year earlier, although diesel-powered cars still dominate. European brands retain a commanding 76% market share, led by Dacia and Renault, while Chinese brands, including Tesla rival BYD, hold about 7.7%.
