AfrOil: Eni’s Tango FLNG vessel poised to deliver first cargo

Italy’s firm Eni is set to deliver the first LNG cargo from its Tango floating LNG (FLNG) facility, according to shipping data.

In late February, Eni revealed that it was loading its first cargo of the super-chilled fuel at the FLNG, which is moored off the coast of the Republic of Congo. The LNG will be delivered to a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) anchored at Piombino on Italy’s north-western coast and operated by the Italian energy infrastructure firm Snam.

First gas was introduced into the Tango FLNG facility in December 2023 in record time, just 12 months after achieving a positive final investment decision (FID).

The FLNG, which arrived from Dubai, boasts a liquefaction capacity of approximately 1bn cubic metres per year of gas, or 600,000 tonnes per year (tpy), and has 16,100 cubic metres of storage capacity. It is processing natural gas from the offshore Marine XII permit.
