Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria have reached an agreement with the signing of the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline Project, marking a significant milestone in West African energy cooperation.

This new pipeline will transport natural gas from Nigeria to Equatorial Guinea's EG LNG facility at Punta Europa on Bioko Island. The deal, signed by Presidents Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to enhance regional energy security and bolster economic growth through increased bilateral collaboration.

The agreement outlines a comprehensive plan to build a pipeline, process gas, and sell it to power companies and industrial users. At the signing ceremony, Antonio Oburu Ondo, Equatorial Guinea's Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, highlighted that this project represents a significant advancement for the country’s Gas Monetisation Hub (GMH) initiative, positioning Equatorial Guinea as a regional leader in gas monetisation.
