AfrOil: Shelf Drilling secures $60mn contract in Nigeria

Shelf Drilling, a leading international offshore drilling contractor, has announced two new awards in West Africa for two jack-up rigs in Nigeria.

The company secured a contract for its rig, the Shelf Drilling Mentor, to drill 10 wells. Valued at $60mn, the contract is expected to last approximately 450 days and will commence immediately after the rig’s current campaign, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

Additionally, Shelf Drilling has received a letter of award for its Shelf Drilling Achiever rig, which is scheduled to begin a multi-year campaign in October 2024.

The Shelf Drilling Achiever rig is currently being transported by land to West Africa, with an anticipated arrival before the end of September 2024. The company is also transporting its Main Pass IV rig. Both rigs are scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2024.
