AfrOil: South Africa's first helium, LNG producer Renergen resumes production after mandatory maintenance
Johannesburg-listed Renergen, a helium and liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer, has completed annual maintenance of its plant in central South Africa.
The company said in a release that national power utility Eskom has already restored power to the facility in the Free State region. The plant resumed LNG production on September 19. The helium module is being started and set to recommence filling once the temperature is lowered.
“The scheduled maintenance was completed within our scheduled timelines and undertaken for the first time managed and supervised completely by our own engineering, operations and maintenance departments since having taken control of the process plant,” Stefano Marani, the chief executive officer said in a release on September 20.
“We look forward to continued improvement and stability in the system following the maintenance, and we look forward to filling and delivering containers for customers again.”
Renergen shares on the JSE rose 8.2% by the close of trading on September 20 on the news of the completion of the mandatory maintenance, according to Business Report.
