AfrOil: TotalEnergies, Sonatrach expand partnership in Algeria
Global integrated energy company TotalEnergies and Algeria's national oil company, Sonatrach, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at concluding a hydrocarbon contract in the North-East Timimoun region.
The MoU outlines the realisation of a work programme for the appraisal and development of gas resources in the region. The development will be conducted in synergy with existing processing facilities for production from the onshore Timimoun field to reduce costs and emissions, TotalEnergies said in a press release on April 8.
Owned by Sonatrach (51%), TotalEnergies (37.75%) and Spain’s Cepsa (11.25%), the Timimoun natural gas project comprises 37 production wells from eight structures to produce approximately 160mn cubic feet (mmcf) of gas per day.
“This memorandum of understanding reflects our shared willingness to expand our strategic partnership with Sonatrach,” said Julien Pouget, senior vice president Middle East & North Africa, exploration & production, at TotalEnergies.
