Egypt's Sun Misr wins €46mn gas turbine maintenance contract in Jordan

Egyptian maintenance firm Sun Misr has won an international tender worth €46mn issued by Arab Potash Company in Jordan for long-term gas turbine maintenance at the company's power generation station, according to a June 11 statement by Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, cited by Al Youm Al Sabea.

Sun Misr is an Egyptian joint-stock company specialising in downstream engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance services for the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors. The entity is heavily backed by the state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).

The contract will run over ten years and covers the provision of integrated maintenance services and technical support for two Siemens Energy (FRA:ENR) gas turbine units. The turbines generate 110MW of electricity and produce 170 tonnes of steam per hour to meet the industrial operational needs of the complex.

The award forms part of the petroleum ministry's strategy to support the international expansion of Egyptian oil sector companies and strengthen their competitiveness in regional and global markets.

The win will support the company's standing as a trusted partner in maintenance, industrial, and energy projects both within Egypt and abroad. The contract represents a further addition to the company's track record in overseas markets and embodies the ministry's drive to maximise the value derived from Egyptian expertise.
