Egyptian property developer Hassan Allam wins EPC contract for 200MW Benban solar project
Egyptian real estate developer Hassan Allam Holding announced that its subsidiary, Hassan Allam Construction, has secured the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Benban solar power plant, Al Borsa reported on February 19.
The project is being developed by the energy platform of Hassan Allam Utilities in partnership with an international consortium comprising the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Meridiam and Infinity Power Holding.
Under the contract, Hassan Allam Construction will deliver the full EPC scope for the project, which combines 200MW of solar generation capacity with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 120MWh. The works include grid connection and the installation of all supporting systems to enable commercial operations in H2 2026.
The project is expected to support Egypt’s national energy strategy by increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix to 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040. The plant aims to enhance grid stability and address load variability.
Foreign investors accounted for more than half of Hassan Allam Utilities’ portfolio, while promoting local expertise and technology transfer in the clean energy sector.
Hassan Allam Construction is a leading Egyptian engineering and EPC firm with a $6bn project backlog across the MENA region. The company specialises in complex infrastructure, energy, and water projects. It is a key partner in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 (including projects in NEOM and Amaala).
