Energy China to build solar power plant near Tashkent for ACWA Power

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Energy China Group Corporation (CEEC) for a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant project in Uzbekistan's Tashkent region, Zawya has reported.

The signing of the agreement took place in Riyadh.

The Chinese company is to act as the main contractor for the plant.

In March, Uzbekistan’s National Electric Networks inked an agreement with ACWA for a 400-MW power plant project in Yukorichirchik district. In addition to the solar farm, the complex will include a 334-MW energy storage system.

The Saudi company is implementing a number of energy projects in Uzbekistan. ACWA work is also under way on the construction of a 1.5-GW wind farm, which is to become one of the largest in the region.
