EurOil: Denmark's largest gas field on track for relaunch this March

Denmark’s largest gas field is on track to relaunch production in March after lengthy and extension renovation, its operator reported this week.

The TotalEnergies-operated Tyra field was closed in September 2019 so that redevelopment could take place. This programme involves the replacement of the topsides at Tyra’s platform, which over many years of production had subsided, as well as the installation of new jacket extensions. Once back online, the field should pump out 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) of gas.

The project was initially expected to be completed in 2022, but global supply chain issues caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic delayed key work at an Indonesian shipyard, as well as other tasks. The cost of the project has also risen as a result of the complications, from DKK21bn to DKK25.7bn ($3.5bn).

Progress is being made on the final stages of the Tyra redevelopment programme, the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC) reported this week. TotalEnergies has a 43.2% stake in the consortium, while BlueNord and Nordsofonden have shares of 36.8% and 20% respectively.
