EurOil: Eni, Snam start up Italy's first industrial-scale CCS project
Newsbase 13 September 2024
Eni and Snam have launched injection operations at Italy’s first industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, they announced on September 3.
The Ravenna CCS project will capture around 25,000 tonnes per year (tpy) of CO2 annually from Eni's natural gas processing plant in Casalborsetti, Ravenna, under its first phase. The captured CO2 will then be transported via repurposed pipelines to the offshore Porto Corsini Mare Ovest platform, where it will be injected into a depleted gas reservoir at a depth of 3,000 metres.
