EurOil: EU mulls importing gas from Argentina

The EU is looking at potentially buying natural gas from Argentina in the future, in anticipation of the South American country’s planned expansion in domestic production that is expected to transform it from a net gas importer to exporter, a draft document seen by Reuters showed.

Brussels and Buenos Aires plan to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the plan on July 24 that would state that any gas trade between the two sides must not jeopardise Argentina’s domestic gas needs.

“The participants endeavour to co-operate towards enabling a stable delivery of LNG from Argentina to the EU,” it was stated in the document, which could undergo revisions before it is ultimately published.
