EurOil: Neptune brings online new North Sea field

Neptune Energy has kicked off production at the Fenja oil and gas field off the coast of Norway, the partners said this week.

Fenja, operated jointly by Neptune and partners Var Enerji, Sval Enerji and DNO, is designed to produce 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) at peak through two wells.

The project involves two subsea templates linked back to the Equinor-operated Njord A platform. It involves a 36-km electrically trace-heated (ETH) pipe-in-pipe solution that delivers the oil from the field to the platform for processing.

The Fenja field’s oil has a high level of wax, which means that it must be warmed up to a temperature above 28 degrees Celsius. The tie-back pipeline to Njord A is the longest ETH subsea production pipeline in the world that is in service.
