EurOil: Poland's Unimot eyes Shell's stake in Schwedt refinery

Poland's Unimot is one of the companies vying to buy Shell’s 37.5% stake in Germany’s PCK Schwedt refinery, sources have told Reuters

The plant, which is under the majority control of Russia’s state-owned Rosneft, has caused difficulties for Germany’s government since the country cut energy ties with Moscow. The government placed Rosneft’s 54.2% stake under trusteeship, giving it operational control even though Rosneft remains the owner on paper.

Because of these issues, Shell resumed plans earlier this year to divest its stake in the refinery, which is Germany’s fourth-largest, covering 90% of Berlin’s fuel needs.

"Unimot is one of the possible buyers of the Shell share, but not the only one," a government source told Reuters.
