EurOil: Power cut to Druzhba pipeline shuts down oil supplies from Ukraine to Hungary

Power to the Druzhba (Friendship) pipeline which delivers Russian crude to Europe has been cut after a transformer in Ukraine, near the border with Belarus, was hit by a rocket on November 15. Russian forces were carrying out massive air strikes on Ukraine, mainly targeting transmission stations.

The pipeline itself was not damaged, but the attack temporarily interrupted crude deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia.

Hungarian oil and gas company MOL's main refinery near Budapest and its Slovakian facility in Bratislava are supplied by the Druzhba pipeline.

Russia's state-owned pipeline monopoly Transneft has been notified by Ukraine that oil supply to Hungary via the oil pipeline's southern leg is temporarily suspended.

MOL said crude reserves are sufficient to keep the Danube Refinery operating continuously while the damage is repaired.
