EurOil: Qatar in talks to buy Rosneft stake in Germany's Schwedt refinery
Qatar is in negotiations with Germany over the potential purchase of Russian oil giant Rosneft’s majority stake in the German Schwedt oil refinery that Berlin placed under trusteeship in 2022, Business Insider reported on August 28.
Germany’s government confirmed “regular exchanges” with Qatar on potential investments over the past three months, Reuters reported. The government did not say whether buying Rosneft’s assets was discussed, however.
The state secretary in the German chancellery, Joerg Kukies, has held talks with Mansoor Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), four times over the past three months, the government said, according to Reuters. The most recent discussion took place on August 14.
