EurOil: Shell takes FID on UK's Victory gas field

Shell has reached a final investment decision (FID) on the development of the Victory gas field in the UK North Sea, some 47-km northwest of the Shetland Islands – a project set to come on stream in the middle of the decade.

The field will help maintain domestic gas supply to UK homes, businesses and power plants, Shell said. Its development will involve the drilling of a single subsea well that will be tied back to existing infrastructure servicing the Greater Lagghan Area, with a new 16-km pipeline.

“The UK North Sea is a critical national resource, providing a steady supply of the fuels people rely on today and strengthening the country’s energy security and resilience,” Shell said in a statement. “Continued investment is required to sustain domestic production, which is declining faster than the UK’s demand for oil and gas.”
