FSUOGM: Iraq strikes initial deal to import Turkmen gas

Iraq has struck an initial deal to import gas from Turkmenistan to help satisfy its power station requirements, its oil ministry said on August 24.

"It was initially agreed to import quantities of gas to meet part of the needs of the electric power stations," Iraqi Deputy Oil Minister for Gas Affairs Azzat Sabir said in a statement issued by the ministry.

The detailed agreement specifying gas volumes to be imported from Turkmenistan should be signed before the end of this year, Sabir said.
