GLNG: Canada poised to stake bigger claim in northeast Asia’s LNG market

Canada’s LNG industry is set to play the role of a crucial supplier to Asian buyers according to industry participants at the Global Energy Show in Calgary, S&P Global reported on June 12.

With the country’s flagship project LNG Canada nearing completion, optimism abounded among industry officials at the gathering in Calgary.

“LNG Canada is now over more than 90% complete and we will be the first to be built on the [Canadian] West Coast,” Teresa Waddington, senior vice president of LNG Canada, said at the conference.

“We will have the advantage of a less shipping time to Asia [compared with the US Gulf Coast],” she added.
