GLNG: Peru LNG resumes exports after July shutdown

Peru LNG, the operator of a natural gas liquefaction plant and export terminal in Pampa Melchorita, resumed exports in the first two weeks of August following a planned shutdown in July.

According to data from Peru’s national oil company (NOC) Perupetro, the Peru LNG consortium resumed loadings after completing its maintenance programme and has loaded two cargoes since the beginning of August. The first of these was the Barcelona Knutsen, a 173,400-cubic metre tanker, which left port on August 2. The second was the LNGShips Athena, a 174,000-cubic metre tanker, which departed from Peru LNG’s terminal on August 9.

Perupetro did not say exactly how much LNG either vessel was carrying. It did note, however, that both ships were bound for the UK. There is a chance that either could change destination en route, it added.

In June, Peru LNG’s last month of normal business, the terminal loaded five cargoes containing a total of 335,203 tonnes of LNG. The last of these to leave was the Shandong Juniper, a 138,100-cubic metre vessel that was sailing for the European market.

The Peru LNG consortium has loaded and delivered a total of 680 cargoes of LNG since its launch in June 2010.
