GLNG: Predator prepares Moroccan FSRU bid

UK-based Predator Oil & Gas has said in an update that it is preparing to submit a bid to build and operate a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to import LNG into Morocco.
The company’s Predator Gas Ventures Morocco Branch (PGVMB) subsidiary is preparing to submit the bid in response to a call for expressions of interest (EoIs) issued by the Moroccan government, with a deadline of May 31, 2021.
The initial scope of the FSRU project is 1.1bn cubic metres by 2025, rising to 1.7 bcm in 2030 and 3.0 bcm in 2040, Predator said in a May 24 update. The company cited a proposed FSRU-based LNG import project it is also developing in Ireland, saying it hoped to tap into the know-how gained from its work on that plan to move forward with its Moroccan bid.
“The [Moroccan] FSRU project is envisaged to be a much longer-term project that does not compete with the company's short and medium-term plans to explore for, appraise and develop gas in its Guercif licence onshore northern Morocco,” Predator stated. “It is potentially a complementary addition to the company's business development strategy for Morocco to increase both materiality and the potential for future gas exports to Europe once the domestic Moroccan gas market reaches capacity.”
The company added that it was continuing negotiations on three potential collaboration agreements with European companies in relation to the FSRU concept both in Ireland and Morocco. These could result in further announcements in the coming weeks, Predator said.
