GLNG: Trinidad to restart idled Atlantic LNG unit by 2027

Trinidad and Tobago has revealed it plans to restart Atlantic LNG’s idled liquefaction train one. Latin America’s top LNG exporter hopes to have the unit restarted by the end of the first quarter of 2027, Reuters reported on June 7.

Trinidad has long been seeking to secure additional gas supply in order for all four liquefaction trains to be running at the Atlantic LNG export facility. If operating at full capacity, the terminal has the ability to process 4.2bn cubic feet (119mn cubic metres) per day of gas into LNG, petrochemicals and power.

However, the country has been unable in recent years to find ample supply of gas. Currently, Trinidad’s gas production is around 2.7 bcf (76 mcm) per day.
