GLNG: Vietnam’s Thi Vai LNG facility ready for commercial operations

Vietnam has marked a key milestone in its push to develop its gas industry, with the country’s first LNG warehouse and terminal complex having completed a series of additional technical tests and now ready to commence commercial operations.

The Thi Vai LNG facility is the first plant in the country capable of storing and processing the super-chilled gas. For Vietnam, it symbolises a crucial leap forward for the country as it looks to play a key role in expanding regional co-operation around the development of LNG.

The PetroVietnam Gas facility located in the country’s southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau first began construction work on October 28, 2019. Initial trial operations for the facility commenced on July 10, 2023. The test run of the main processes was finished on July 30, with final additional technical tests completed recently paving the way for commercial operations to begin.
