GLNG: Workers at Western Australia’s two Chevron LNG plants vote to restart strike

A deal to prevent industrial action at Chevron’s two LNG production facilities in Western Australia has fallen through, with employees voting on October 6 to restart strikes at the Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG plants.

Short strikes at the facilities had begun on September 8. However, a two-week strike ended on September 22 when Australia’s Offshore Alliance, a union group representing the workers, reached an agreement with Chevron on a proposal by the country’s industrial arbitrator.

But the end to the strike was short-lived, with workers at the two facilities voting on October 5 and 6 to restart strikes, accusing Chevron of reneging on last month’s deal.
