Iran offers free CNG fuel at selected stations in Tehran and Karaj

Compressed natural gas (CNG) will be offered free of charge at selected fuel stations in Tehran and Alborz provinces for dual-fuel vehicles starting on March 7, as part of a campaign aimed at managing fuel consumption, ILNA reported on March 8.

The initiative, organised by the Iranian CNG Association with support from CNG station operators and coordination with the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, is being carried out under a campaign titled “Energy solidarity; CNG for Iran” amid ongoing war conditions in the country.

Under the plan, a number of CNG stations across Tehran and Alborz will provide free compressed natural gas to motorists driving dual-fuel vehicles until further notice.

The association said the move is intended to support citizens and assist with managing national fuel consumption.

Station operators are participating voluntarily as part of what the association described as the social responsibility of companies active in the CNG sector.

In Alborz province, participating stations include bus fleet stations in Karaj, Akbarabad station near the transport organisation, Golzar Sharghi station, Mahan Boulevard station and facilities near the Ferdis metro station.

The Iranian CNG Association said the list of participating stations may be expanded.

The association encouraged drivers of dual-fuel vehicles, including public transport fleets and freight vehicles, to use CNG, describing it as a cleaner and more economical fuel option.
