LatAmOil: Brazil’s oil and gas output tops 4mn boepd
Brazil’s hydrocarbon production hit 4.048mn barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in September 2022, according to data released by the country’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
This is only the second time that monthly output has ever topped 4mn boepd. The last time it did so was in January 2020, shortly before the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, when production totalled 4.041mn boepd.
The ANP data indicated that crude oil accounted for almost three quarters of total production in September, reaching 3.148mn barrels per day (bpd). The remaining volumes consisted of 143mn cubic metres of associated and natural gas.
ANP further noted that offshore fields in the pre-salt zone had made up 74.11% of total output, or about 3mn boepd. The biggest producing fields within the pre-salt region were Tupi and Buzios, which yielded 1.16mn boepd and 676,600 boepd respectively, it said.
