LatAmOil: Perupetro to negotiate new exploration deals directly with investors
Peru’s national oil and gas concessionaire Perupetro revealed on February 2 that it had opened up 31 new exploration licences for investment and was prepared to negotiate directly with prospective partners.
Fernando Ruiz Lecaros, a member of Perupetro’s board of directors, told investors in Houston that the new licence areas were located within the Madre de Dios, Maranon, Salaverry, Tumbes and Uyucali basins. He did not identify them by name but said that his company was looking to negotiate two-year technical evaluation deals with outside investors.
These agreements will give their holders the right to negotiate full exploration licences after two years, Ruiz noted. He also stated that Perupetro wanted to enter into discussions with potential investors directly rather than holding a licensing round or some sort of competitive tender.
