LatAmOil: Spudding of Wei-1 postponed again

Canada’s CGX Energy has been forced once again to postpone the spudding of Wei-1, its second exploration well at the Corentyne block offshore Guyana.
In a statement, CGX explained that the delay was beyond its control. The company and its partner – Frontera Energy (Canada), itself a majority shareholder in CGX – had hoped to take delivery of the NobleCorp Discoverer semi-submersible rig on October 22, but the unit remains at another location and will not arrive on the scheduled date, it explained.
“Due to unforeseen challenges to the exploration activities of a third-party operator, the release of the NobleCorp Discoverer drilling unit to CGX has been delayed,” it said. “This situation is beyond the reasonable control of the joint venture.”
