LatAmOil: Suriname launches deepwater bidding round
Staatsolie Hydrocarbon Institute (SHI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Suriname’s national oil company (NOC) Staatsolie, officially launched a new licensing round covering some 43,956 square km of deepwater acreage on the Demerara Plateau on November 8.
In a statement, SHI reported that it was inviting both national oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs) to submit offers for the six blocks included in the Demerara Bidding Round (DBR). It also said it had commissioned Envoi, a UK-based energy portfolio and project marketing firm, as its official advisor for the marketing and management of the competitive bidding process.
According to the statement, Envoi will start the process by registering the interested parties seeking access to SHI’s data rooms, which include information on all six licence areas included in DBR. These sites are known as Blocks 63, 64, 65, 66, 67 and 68, and they are located in waters ranging from 400 metres to 3,500 metres deep.
