MEOG: Iraq turns attention to Wasit

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil (MoO) is working to set up another region-specific subsidiary that will be responsible for the development of fields in the Wasit Governorate as it works to expand oil production capacity.

Speaking in the region this week, Oil Minister Hayan Abdulghani said: “Wasit Province [is receiving] government attention and support, and we are keen to communicate with the local government and with the governor to advance the service reality and develop the oil industry.”

He said that work is being carried out to “establish the Wasit Oil Co.”, noting that “issues and projects of common interest [have been] discussed to advance the […] development of the oil industry in the province.”
