Morocco fuel prices rise in February across major distribution networks

Fuel prices in Morocco rose in February after nearly one month of stability, with diesel and gasoline registering fresh increases across major fuel distribution networks, Al Arabiya Business reported on February 5.

The latest price hike is likely to renew debate over fuel pricing dynamics and household cost pressures in the Moroccan market.

Diesel prices climbed by MAD 0.35 ($0.03) per litre, while gasoline rose by MAD 0.11 per litre. At stations operated by Afriquia and Shell, the price of diesel reached MAD 10.3 per litre, up from MAD 9.95 a month earlier, once again exceeding the symbolic MAD 10 mark. Gasoline at the same stations increased to MAD 11.99 per litre, compared with MAD 11.88 previously.

Meanwhile, Winxo stations are selling diesel at MAD 10.27 per litre, while gasoline is priced at MAD 11.96 per litre.

The price increases come amid mixed signals in Morocco’s fuel distribution market. In January, the country’s Competition Council reported that the combined turnover of the nine main wholesale distributors of diesel and gasoline, excluding marine fuels, reached MAD 18.91bn in Q3 2025. This represented a 6.2% year-on-year (y/y) decline compared with MAD 20.16bn recorded in the same period of 2024.

Despite the drop in turnover, fuel consumption continued to rise. Total sales volumes of diesel and gasoline increased by 4.2% y/y to 1.98bn litres in the third quarter of 2025, up from 1.9bn litres a year earlier, indicating sustained demand even as prices fluctuate.
