NorthAmOil: Halliburton equipment worth $7.1mn sold to Russia in past year

According to customs records, equipment from the US oilfield services giant Halliburton worth $7.1mn has been imported into Russia in the last year, the Guardian newspaper reports in an exclusive.

Just over a year ago, on September 8, Halliburton sold its Russian division to local management because of pressure on foreign companies to cease business in Russia after its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

But Russian customs records seen by the Guardian – the newspaper is based in London – suggest that Halliburton subsidiaries exported $5,729,600 in equipment to Halliburton’s former operation in Russia in the four weeks following the sale, the Guardian reported.

The oilfield services equipment was largely shipped from the US and Singapore, though some also originated in Belgium, France and the UK. Equipment included pumps, spanners for the drilling of wells, and cement additives, said the newspaper.

Most of the exports ended on October 6, reported the Guardian, but a shipment from a company named Halliburton MFG was of a $2,939.40 sealing element on October 24 to a consortium called Sakhalin Energy, which is developing the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project in the east of Russia. The sealing product was shipped from Malaysia.
