REM: Cambridge Power receives permit for 60-MW battery

UK energy storage developer Cambridge Power has obtained planning permission for the development of a 60-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Yorkshire, northern England, Renews reported on August 1.

For Cambridge Power it marks the tenth consecutive BESS project the company has secured planning permission for in the past two years.

Located on a brownfield site across from a major substation, the site was selected by the company for the opportunity to revive a formerly underutilised industrial site for a long-term green energy infrastructure project.

Once the project comes online it will be capable of providing sustainable energy storage capabilities for a fast-growing region in the UK.
