REM: Google signs deal for almost 1 GW of solar power for Texas datacentre

Google has signed up for almost 1 GW of power from solar projects for a datacentre in Texas. The solar projects are owned by SB Energy Global.
Both companies are headquartered in Silicon Valley in California. Google, the online search and cloud/datacentre giant, is striving to make its global datacentres all powered by clean electricity 24/7 by 2030.
The agreement for four SB Energy solar projects is Google’s largest combined clean energy transaction in Texas to date, said SB Energy.
Google will purchase approximately 75% of the renewable energy produced by four of its solar projects under development. The projects, totalling 1.2 GW of capacity, are Orion 1-3 and Eiffel solar projects, also in Texas. They are expected to be operational by mid-2024.
