REM: RWE partners with Tata Steel, plans 1 GW of floating offshore capacity off Wales

RWE of Germany and India’s Tata Steel have formed a partnership to support the “green industrial revolution” and offshore wind power generation off Wales in the Celtic Sea.

Tata Steel has a steel-making facility in Port Talbot, South Wales.

RWE, which is already Wales’ largest electricity producer, has entered a new partnership with Tata Steel to understand and explore the production of steel components that could be used in high-tech floating wind foundations and structures for gigawatt-scale projects in the Celtic Sea.

The industry leaders will work together to identify the steel components that could be supplied from Tata Steel in floating wind technologies.
