REM: Square to invest in Blockstream's solar-powered bitcoin mining facility

Financial services firm Square, Inc. and the bitcoin miner Blockstream are investing $5mn in an open-source, solar-powered bitcoin mining facility at one of Blockstream’s sites in the United States.

“Ultimately, we hope to demonstrate how bitcoin mining in conjunction with renewable energy can help drive the clean energy transition,” said Blockstream in a blog.
