Turkey awards 1.5 GW of wind capacity in YEKA tender
Turkey’s energy ministry on November 2 concluded its latest onshore wind tender held under the Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA RES-2026) framework. It announced the awarding of 1.5 gigawatts of grid connection capacity across seven key project zones.
Following the opening of the sealed financial proposals, the bidding transitioned into a dynamic auction stage featuring a €10,000 entry fee per round. Final allocations were once again determined by additional cash contribution fees per megawatt (MW) offered by developers to the state grid.
To control system costs and spur capital commitment, regulators set a ceiling price of €5.5 per kilowatt-hour (€55/MWh) and a floor price of €35/MWh. As is usual in YEKA tenders, all tariff offers moved down to the regulatory floor across all seven project sites.
In the 140-MW R26-Balikesir-1 RES tender, Poyraz Yenilenebilir Enerji won through after a protracted nine-round bidding process, offering the minimum 35/MWh tariff alongside a contribution fee of €42,000/MW.
Egesa Elektrik won the 235-MW R26-Balikesir-2 RES tender with no contribution fees and the 235-MW R26-Manisa RES with a €16,000/MW contribution fee, while Fe Girism Enerji won the 170-MW R26-Balikesir-3 RES tender with a €20,000/MW contribution fee and the 140-MW R26-Balikesir-4 RES tender with a €154,000/MW contribution fee.
Metgun Enerji (Istanbul/METEN) won the 320-MW R26-Sivas RES tender with a €30,000/MW contribution fee while Ecogreen Elektrik (Istanbul/ECOGR) won the 260-MW R26-Kutahya RES with €72,000/MW.
On November 3, the ministry will hold the YEKA GES-2026 tenders for 11 plants with a combined capacity of 785-MW.
Looking forward to the first quarter of 2027, it is also planning to hold the YEKA DURES-2026 tender for offshore wind plants.
